Child Care Providers

Community Care for Kids is dedicated to supporting early childhood professionals in offering professional development opportunities, accreditation support, CDA support, resources and materials and information and referrals to parents about quality, caring and appropriate environments for children.

We also offers a variety of Professional Development opportunities for parents and for early care and education professionals including family child care providers/educators, group child care providers, and administrators. Our Professional Development is developed to meet the criteria adopted by the Department of Early Education and Care (EEC) and to meet providers and educators professional development needs. The Core Competencies reflects the core body of knowledge and observable skills and attitudes the educators working with young children need to facilitate child learning and development. The eight core competency areas for Early Education & Care and Out of School Time are:

  • Understanding the growth & development of children and youth
  • Guiding and interacting with children and youth
  • Partnering with families and communities
  • Health, safety and nutrition
  • Learning environments and curriculum
  • Observation, assessment and documentation
  • Program planning and development
  • Professionalism and leadership
